A glimpse of the past...

In my 25 years of living, this is the first time i was able to visit a great slice of this wonderful country...our trip to this beautiful and historic island made me realize a lot of things, things that not all of us are lucky to know and see for ourselves for some reasons.
we started the day early, an hour and a half of bus ride to manila and another hour and fifteen minutes of a ferry boat ride to the island. everyone was excited... eagerly listening to what the tour guides are saying to describe the island while we were at the boat patiently waiting to get to our destination.
It was then the silence broke when someone shouted "we're here guys!" which eventually made everyone go take a first glimpse of the island.
we definitely had to take pictures to make us not forget about the beautiful view of this place!

And so we took off the boat and filled our eyes with the great view. the tour started after fifteen minutes of taking pictures. the bus rides took us to the different spots of the island, while a tour guide explains everything about how and when the buildings were ruined during the war.

Having seen all that made me think of one thing, and that is how lucky we are to have not experienced such hardship of struggling to be alive in the middle of a war,
...having a candle to light a hospital with thousands of sick people,
...having to undergo certain medical procedures without any anesthesia or having to limit your water intake to two glasses a day due to insufficient supply and more...

It made me think of the sacrifices that one has to make in order to be alive, in order to serve his purpose, a purpose to fight for his freedom, the freedom that our generation is now enjoying..

Time flew so fast and the day was done...I felt sad leaving this place, but i know that it will always be with me in my memories. I'll never forget the magnificent views of the island and the historical buildings in it.

It was one of the greatest experiences and I should say I would definitely go back to this island,..
